Elizabeth Blackwell by Carol Greene

Nonfiction – Biography

Blurb by: Colleen

Elizabeth Blackwell is a shy and worried girl. She likes to learn, read, and take walks. She hated slavery though, she also hated bodies they were things in her life that made her feel sick. Elizabeth’s friend died of cancer and she suggested that Elizabeth should be a doctor, the first woman doctor. Just then, Elizabeth loved bodies, she thought they were beautiful. In this story Elizabeth has a mind set to find a medical school that would let her become a doctor. She knows that if she keeps searching one certain school would let her in. This book is about Elizabeth’s journey in becoming the first woman doctor and how she cared for her patients even the patients who were poor and unhealthy. I loved this nonfiction book because it had photos and pictures that really helped  me understand the text. This book would have been a great story guide for someone who is doing a research on Elizabeth Blackwell. I star this book a 5/5. It was really a helpful book to me and I enjoyed reading it.
