I Love Fall

By: Matthew

My favorite time of the year is very colorful.  It’s very peaceful how the leaves fall from the trees in a cool and breezy weather, where people are everywhere playing.  This is the beautiful scene of fall.  Fall is a time to do so many things.  There are gatherings, different foods you can eat, and a whole lot of excitement.  Fall is my favorite time of the year because of its magnificent holidays, breezy weather, and all of the nature you see.

To begin with, fall has so many holidays in it.  Thanksgiving is a really heart warming holiday.  It makes me want to give thanks to so many things.  During thanksgiving I also have a blast with my family.  It feels good to give thanks.  Another holiday is Halloween, which is about having fun while wearing a question that you want.  It is also about scaring other.  You can go trick-or-treating, go to a Halloween party, and etc.   The holidays in fall are one of my favorite holidays of the year.

In addition to holidays, I really love the cool, breezy weather in the fall.  It feels so good when the wind goes through your hair while you are biking or running.  Sometimes the weather is so nice you just want to lie down and look up in the sky while he wind takes you away.  Its really seems peaceful.  When I am running in the summer it gets really hot and I sweat so much, more than the usual.  But in the fall it is just perfect to run and do almost everything you want because of the weather of fall.  The breeze is just perfect and that makes fall one of my favorite times of the year.

Along with holidays and breezy weather I also like fall because of it’s quantity of nature. In the fall the nature is so beautiful because of the scenery. Leaves of all different colors, leaves falling everywhere, animals scurrying for food, and etc. It seems so peaceful when you look outside smell that fresh air and see all the wonderful colors. Sometimes to help the squirrels find there food I would try to find an acorn, then find a squirrel and then toss the acorn near them so it would find it. Sometimes the squirrel gets frightened and runs and sometimes they eat it. I like it when I help the squirrels it makes the scene look a little better. This is another reason why fall is my favorite time of the year.

Without a doubt fall is my most favorite season. I cherish fall because of the holidays, breezy weather, and the nature. That’s why I think fall is the best season of all.

Closed for the season

By Mary Downing Hahn

Blurb by Matthew

Closed for the Season is a book about a boy named Logan that moves to a different neighborhood. Soon a boy named Arthur tells him that the person that lived in his new house before him got murdered. Later the two boys go out bike riding and Arthur tells him that a theme park has been closed and soon they figured out all the money was stolen. The two boys think the killing has a connection with the theme park closing. Soon after they tried to gather as much info as they can. There questions were who killed the woman that lived in Logan’s house and what happened to the theme park?

This book was a pretty good book but there is a little violence and language but it was still a good book to read. It also has a shocking ending.

October Podcast Project – Encore Tech

November 20th, 2009 Written by 13matthewk · Technology

Me and Jagr did a Halloween poem. We had a fun time because we can mess around with our voices and we think are podcast will scare people because at the end we shout in the mic a few seconds after the podcast. The home sound effects we made was from our voices. Jagr did a pakistan voice and I screamed into the mic. The digital sound effects were from Garage Band. My favorite part of the project was when we had to scream into the mic. We started to laugh like crazy. This podcast was a fun project to do.

If you could be shrunk down to one inch tall for one day , what do you think would be the most exciting place  to explore and why?

I would go under ground to see things I haven’t seen before. Explore the unknown of the underground. I want to do that because nobody in person went under ground.

By Laurie Stolarz

Blurb by Matthew K.

Silvers For Secrets is about a girl named Stacy who can foresee the future.   She is on summer break and goes to the beach and lives with her friends in a cottage.  Stacy thought she was going to have a fun but she didn’t.  She now keeps having nightmares about a girl named Clara and she was going to die.  She sees her arms and legs bleeding and that gives her clues what’s going to happened to Clara.  She finds out that Clara is keeping a big secret from her and now her boyfriend Jacob is keeping secrets from her also.  Can he really be betraying Stacy or is he doing this for her own sakes?  Is Clara really being stocked?

Silvers For Secrets is wonderful book to read.  It has a little violence in it at the end.  It has a lot of action in it and it’s very suspenseful.  There are a total of five books in this series.  This one is the third book.  You won’t understand this book if you don’t read the first two books.  I recommend this book to anybody that loves suspense and action.

Up High in the Trees

Up High in the Trees
By Kiara Brinkman
Blurb by Matthew K
Up High in the Trees is about a boy named Sebby.  He’s 8 years old and has been through tragic times.  Sebby is really shy and at the same time very courageous because he stuck through all the hard times.
Sebby’s life was really sad. His mother had died in a midnight jog with his baby sister inside the mother’s stomach. In school he gets bullied a lot and falls asleep during class. He only has four friends.  But Sebby stuck his ground and tried to ignore all the harsh things.  He didn’t cry or act emotional.  This told me that he was a courageous boy.
This book was well told with details and it’s kind of sad how Sebby goes through such hard times and it makes you want to know what will happen next in Sebby’s life.
This is a novel for adults so some people will maybe not understand everything in the book. I recommend this book to people that has higher reading skills.  This book was full of sadness and tragic events so if someone is looking for this type of book, then this is the book for you.  This book is a realistic fiction book but it’s also kind of written as a biography also.

Internet Safety

October 9th, 2009 Written by 13matthewk · Technology, Uncategorized

Last week we learned about internet safety in encore tech.  Here’s five tips about internet safety.  First don’t share personal information with people on the internet.  They can find out about your identity and find out who you are.  If they do your in trouble so don’t share personal information.  You also should never meet with any strangers because they might try to hurt you.  If anybody asks you for personal information or if they threaten you in a way you should tell and show a guardian.  You also should not be a bully on the internet because you can get in real deep trouble. Do not communicate with people on the Internet when you are mad. You will be a cyberbully if you go on face book, twitter, club penguin, or etc and type something insulting to other people.  I hope you learned something important today.  Remember don’t be a bully on the Internet and if you think your getting bullied get a guardian fast.
