The Great Gilly Hopkins

By: Katherine Paterson

Blurb By: Maya

The Great Gilly Hopkins is a very touching and emotional story. Eleven-year-old Gilly Hopkins has been through more foster homes that she can remember, and she disliked each and every one of them. But Gilly you see she holds a reputation for being unmanageable, sneaky, tough, fierce, and a whole lot more. So Gilly is stuck with living with the Trotters, the strangest house yet. Trotter is a plump and a very religious lady who is Gilly’s ” Foster Mom ” and whatever Trotter does she just can not get on Gilly’s good side. Anyways Gilly isn’t really sticking around Trotter’s house just to live there. Gilly is planning a scheme to find her biological mother. But will her devilish plan work? Will she ever learn to like Trotter and her home? Or even worse, will Gilly’s mom even want her? You should read this book to find out. You wont regret it.

This book was amazing to read. Probably one of my favorite books that I have read. It  is so intriguing to read about Gilly’s attempts to find her mom. Her attitude keeps the book going and it catches your eye every time she speaks. I will warn you that some parts can get a bit tedious but  keep reading because this is a book that you will want to read all the way to the end to. So if you like adventure, and just a good book, then read The Great Gilly Hopkins.
