Can Plants Benifit From Soda and Sports Drink’s in Place of H20?

Can plants benefit from sports drinks and soda in place of h2o? Well, that is what my whole experiment is! The question I was trying to solve is what effects do different liquids have on a peas plant growth. My hypothesis was the more a liquid is like water the better the pea plant will grow  because I already know that water is the best liquid to give to plants. The materials I used are 16 cups of  jiffy seed starter potting soil,24 small pots,24 organic burpee pea seeds,Caffeinated Diet Coke,Lemon-Lime gatorade and powerade,Water,1 camera,1 centimeter ruler,1 computer. I took a lot of steps to get the results that I got and this is what guiding all the way. First, I went to Lowes. Secondly, I bought 24 pots. Thirdly, I bought a pack of burpee organic peas. Next, I bought jiffy seed starter potting soil. Then I put the same amount of soil in each cup (approx. 2 cups per pot). Afterwards, I put the plants in a place where the plants can get a lot and take it in the garage at night. Now, I label each plant whatever substances is the pot. Thereafter, I watered the plants every other day. Soon after, I measured with a centimeter ruler every other day. Eventually, I took a picture every other day. Lastly you repeat steps 8-11 every other day. My results really surprised me. The overall solution was that water grew the best, diet coke grew the second best and Gatorade did the worst. My hypothesis was incorrect.I think that it was incorrect because the amount of sugar in the Gatorade was more than diet. Something that would account for an similarities or differences is sometimes pea plants are not grow able no matter what, and the plants might not get the same amount of sunlight and liquid. Some steps I took to make sure that I followed my produce exactly is I gave the plant 15ml exact. I was and had super careful in completing the lab because if the plants fall my experiment is ruined. A challenge that I had to face is having to finish everything in a set amount of time.  I had a great experience doing the science fair!! Here is my display board!!!

WIth the help of her friends Macey, Liz, and Bex she is able to hack into everything. But is she able to have a relationship with someone who will never know the truth about her?!?!?! Read I’d Tell You I Love you but then I would have to Kill By, Ally Carter to find out!

The story took place at Gallagher Academy and the town. I liked how suspenseful the book was and how the personality fit the characters. I didn’t like how long it was. My favorite character was probably Cammie because she was the most like me. She was the most like me because she was secretive and sneaky.  Cammie changed by believing in herself more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes suspenseful books. I would give this ***** (5 stars) out of ***** (5 stars).  This book is Fantasy. I hope you will read I’d tell you I love you but then I’d have to kill you and like it as much as I did!!!!

This story took place at Big top mall. I liked how it was very suspenseful and alway kept you wanting to read more. I didn’t like how short it was. My favorite character was Julia because she advocated for what she thought was right and was kind to Ivan. Ivan changed by believing that he could persevere and that home is always good. He wouldn’t have changed if it weren’t for help of all the other characters.  I would recommend this book to a friend because it is suspenseful and very touching.  I would give this book ***** (5 stars) out of *****(5 stars). WiIl Ivan be able to keep his promise?!?! Read The One And Only Ivan to find out!!

Butterflies

By: Susanne Gervay

Have you ever wondered how it felt to get 3 degree burns and being bald, not able to talk? Well that is what happened to Katherine. When she was 3 years old she fell into a fire pit and got very bad burns. Then she had a bad accident after she got the burns. What happened was plain and simple her mom said not to go up to high, but Katherine did not listen and she went up, broke her arm and didn’t talk for a little while after that. She took medicine when she was young and made her lose half her hair. Katherine is a fierce australian- italian girl who refuses to be called disabled. Her mum was making all the choices for her. Rachel is her very kind and supportive sister. Rachel does a lot of Katherine’s chores because Katherine is 18 and needs to study hard. Katherine’s best friend’s name is Jesse. One day, her mom and Katherine go to the Professor’s office and find out that he can try to make her scars from her burns less visibly. Katherine’s mom doesn’t like the idea, but this was all Katherine ever wanted. Katherine has always wanted to wear her hair up but is too afraid that people will stare at her. This is a book about overcoming things and believing in  yourself.

This story took place in many different places like, the school, Katherine’s house, Jesse’s House and the Doctor’s house etc. I like how the story had a nice flow to it and it was very suspenseful and unpredictable. I also liked how it showed the meaning of trust. I would have liked the story better if it was not as suspenseful, but then again all books are like that.  My favorite character would have to be Jesse because if something that happened to Katherine happened to me then I would like a kind, caring best friend like Jesse. Katherine the main character changed by believing that it doesn’t matter what you look like it matters about what is in the inside. I would definitely recommend Butterflies to a friend because it is a funny and shows the meaning of trust. Someone who likes realistic fiction would definitely like Butterflies. This is Realistic Fiction. I would give Butterflies ***** (5 stars) out of ***** (5 stars). Read Butterflies to find out if Katherine gets the surgery or not!?!?!?!

Annie Sullivan Essay

Do you know Helen Keller and the “Miracle Worker”? Have you ever wondered who the “Miracle Worker” is? Well, it is Annie Sullivan. Annie Sullivan is influential to the Industrial Revolution because she helped Helen Keller and advocated for  the blind and deaf, she struggled because of  her background and her health, and now more people allow the blind and deaf to do the things they want.

Anne Sullivan was born April 14th, 1866 in Feeding Hill, Massachusetts. She was born to a poor family of Irish immigrants. Her father worked as a farmhand, earning little money and got drunk a lot. Sometimes Annie’s father beat her so severely that her mother had to hide her from him. When she was five years old her eyes started to bother her very badly.  One day  Annie heard someone say  if it weren’t for her eyes she would have been so pretty and when Annie heard that her self-esteem went from low to lower. When Annie was eight years old her mom died from tuberculosis. After, that Annie’s dad abandoned her sister, brother and she.One of her aunt’s took her little sister in, but no one would take Annie and Jimmie. So, Annie was taken to  the state poorhouse called Tewksbury. The way they got there was in a carriage that would usually be used for a prisoners. Annie made such a fuss about the workers trying to  separate her and Jimmie. Family was very important to her so when Jimmie died 3 months after their arrival. Annie had always wanted to go to school and when she was 14 her wish came true. An inspector came, Annie pleaded with the inspector to let her go to school. Annie got sent to Perkins a school for the blind and deaf kids. When she came she couldn’t write her name or thread a needle. She meet Laura Bridgman a blind and deaf woman, like Helen Keller. That was one of Annie’s only friends. Annie went through to eye operations at Perkins and now is able to read. On, June 1st, 1886, when she was twenty years old, Anne Mansfield Sullivan graduated as a class Valedictorian, a top class student..  Anne Sullivan Macy passed away  on October 20th, 1936 at the age of 70 when Helen Keller held her hand.  She was the first teacher and the first woman to be honored so much.

Soon after she graduated, Annie had an opportunity for employment . Michael Anagnos director of Perkins had received a letter from the Kellers, asking if he knew a teacher. Annie didn’t really want to teach, but she desperately needed the work. Her worst nightmare would be to have to go back to Tewkesbury. Anything was better than that. This job paid twenty- five dollars, which seemed like a fortune to her. Annie took the job. She had never stepped  foot out of Massachusetts before, but she felt brave and independent as she boarded the train for the south.  She arrived in Tuscumbia, Alabama,   on March 3rd, 1887 to teach Helen Keller. One morning, Helen was trying to eat off everyone’s plates, but  Annie wouldn’t let Helen. So, she asked Helen’s family to step out and lock the door. After two hours, the dining room was trashed, but Helen was now eating off her plate. This fiasco was now known as the famous “Breakfast Battle”. She also asked Helen Keller’s parents if she could live in a cottage with Helen.  Helen improved without her parents there to distract her and also accepted Annie’s rules and teachings. Annie started teaching Helen to fingerspell hoping that Helen  would learn words by feeling them. One day, Mr. Keller came by with the Keller’s dog and Helen sat down next to the dog and took her paw and finger-spelled d-o-l-l into her paw. One day,  Annie took Helen out to the water pump and Helen finger spelled “w-h-a-t- i-s t-h-i-s” and Annie finger-spelled back “w-a-t-er”. This was one of the biggest achievements with Helen Keller. Helen started  to learn  a lot of words and after six years of schooling Annie had race to keep up with Helen. Family was very important to Annie and she thought of Helen as part of her family. In, May 1888, Annie and Helen went  back to Perkins. Some people didn’t think that Helen had a  mind of her own, they thought that Annie a.k.a “The Miracle Worker” was controlling it. When Helen was eleven she was accused of plagiarism.  Then in, May 1892 they  left Perkins for good and went back to Ivy Green. When Helen was sixteen she decided that she wanted go to college. A teacher at  the college thought Annie was hurting Helen so Annie and Helen were separated then were reunited.  In 1904,  Helen graduated from college with the help of Annie Sullivan finger spelling the words into  her palm. Annie married John Macy on May 3,1905 who made a special house. Helen Keller lived with them  Additionally, Helen was able to walk around without getting lost.  In, 1914 Annie got divorced and became overweight and  her eyesight was worse than ever.   In, 1915 Annie was presented with a Teacher’s Medal at the Panama-Pacific Exposition in San Francisco. Polly Thompson joins Annie and Helen, as Helen’s secretary. In, 1916 Annie and Polly went to Puerto Rico because  of Annie’s health. It is the longest time that Helen and Annie had been apart. Annie’s health worsened,  in 1929 Annie’s right eye hurt so much that the doctors had to remove the eye. Over the next four years, Annie grew frailer and she started lose all the eyesight she had. Helen now took Annie’s place as the teacher and taught her braille, which had changed a lot.

Anne Sullivan Macy had a lot of struggles. One, of her struggles were her health, she was overweight and partially blind, her health got worse as time progressed. Another thing that got in her way is her background, which she is very insecure about.  Some people would not believe this but Helen Keller got in the way also. She got in the way by people believing things that our not true and by the papurazzi.

Annie Sullivan has helped show that blind people and people with disabilities can learn as well as people without disabilities. She also made it easier for the teacher that are teaching these kids with disabilities and easier with the kids with the disabilities. With her work with Helen Keller she is responsible for the work that she did.

Annie Sullivan is influential to the Industrial Revolution because she helped Helen Keller and advocated for  the blind and deaf, she struggled because of  her background and her health, and now more people allow the blind and deaf to do the things they want. In, conclusion Annie Sullivan helped Helen Keller succeed in life and everything else. Therefore, Annie Sullivan should be included in the Wax Museum.
