6th Grade

• Timeline
Students define technology, pick any topic of technology, create a timeline of that topic from invention to present day
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons
All final projects will be included in a slide show on students' blogs using Animoto
Model the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP
5-day project(s) due by the end of class the 5th day

• Bike Helmet
Students develop a state-of-the-art helmet that serves another purpose as well as safety
Students research bike helmet materials, construction
Students present final art project to the class
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP
5-day project(s) due by the end of class the 5th day

• Plant & Animal
Students make up a plant and an animal (fictional) that each benefit mankind in a specific way (CancerWorm)
Final projects on paper presented to class
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP
4-day project(s) due by the end of class the 4th day

• Four Tools/Combination Tools
Students develop combination tools (scissors + hammer = scrammer)
Students create artwork of their newly invented tools to present to the class
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons
4-day project(s) due by the end of class the 4th day

• Electronic Silkscreen – Portraits (Gimp)
- 9 images on one 8 ½” x 11” for display in the school
Students paint 18 portraits, 9-color/9-black & white
Students create one contact sheet for each final project (cut out pics)
Students create a final slide show using Animoto for presentation to the class
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP

• Electronic Silkscreen – Eye Can See Clearly Now – Poem/Lyrics (Gimp)
Students paint one photo of their own eyes
Students paint two more photos of two other students in either class
Students paint in a color theme (school colors, red, white & blue)
Students create a slide show using Animoto for presentation to the class

• PodCast
Students (in partners) become DJs and present a radio show
Radio show includes music, advertisements, weather, traffic
Radio show is minimum of 45 seconds, maximum 60 seconds

7th Grade

• Idioms/Compound Words
Students display 5 idioms and 5 compound words using only images, no text
Students will create a slide show for class presentation
Students will pick one of their pieces for display in the school

• Stop-Action Film
Students create and solve a problem in their films
Students use 2 clicks per second (minimum)
Students used either cameras or laptops (PhotoBooth)
Final projects are imported to iMovie, compressed into QuickTime, and turned in electronically
Stop-Action films will be shown in class as the final project presentation

• Reflections
Students take photographs of their subjects in the reflections
Students need to take a minimum of 100 photographs
Students use 10 photographs for their final projects
Students create a slide show using Animoto

• Photo Essay
Students display 20 photographs (or an even number)
One front cover, one back cover (Publishing Co. & ©)
Photographs tell a story that solves a problem
All photographs need to be taken by the student
If the students is the subject, timer needs to be used

8th Grade

• All iMovies (Four-week Projects)
1. Script
2. StoryBoard/Props/Costumes/Lines
3. Film
4. Edit
* iMovie/Etiquette Final Exam

• Inanimate Object Film – iMovie ‘09
Groups of 4 to 5 students
Inanimate object causes a problem
Story must solve the problem
Each student in the group must participate in every aspect of the project
Each student must have lines

• Solo Expression Film – PhotoBooth
Movie must have a minimum of 3 characters
All characters are played by the Solo-Student
Entire movie is filmed from the neck up
Students need to “costume” their faces
Glasses, wigs, makeup, teeth, eyes, etc.

• Silent Film – Black & White/Sepia
Must include a dance scene
Must include slow-motion, fast-motion
May use on-screen text, time appropriate (4 second minimum)
Overacting needs to explain script/actions

• Soundtrack Film – Lyrics/Script
Total script is from lyrics
All characters’ lines need to be in lip-sync mode
Students need to create the soundtrack, CD cover with their pictures
Soundtrack copy to be turned in/shared with film

• Music Video
Must be a song with an approved storyline
Must be be totally clean
Must have enough characters for the whole group
Play for Change

• Head Shots for the actors
• Dress up, introduce after showing film
• Invite whole school/2nd semester 8th graders
