2011-2012</p>
<p>6th Grade</p>
<p>• Timeline<br />
Students define technology, pick any topic of technology, create a timeline of that topic from invention to present day<br />
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&#038;w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons<br />
All final projects will be included in a slide show on students' blogs using Animoto<br />
Model the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP<br />
5-day project(s) due by the end of class the 5th day</p>
<p>• Bike Helmet<br />
Students develop a state-of-the-art helmet that serves another purpose as well as safety<br />
Students research bike helmet materials, construction<br />
Students present final art project to the class<br />
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&#038;w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons<br />
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP<br />
5-day project(s) due by the end of class the 5th day</p>
<p>• Plant &#038; Animal<br />
Students make up a plant and an animal (fictional) that each benefit mankind in a specific way (CancerWorm)<br />
Final projects on paper presented to class<br />
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&#038;w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons<br />
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP<br />
4-day project(s) due by the end of class the 4th day</p>
<p>• Four Tools/Combination Tools<br />
Students develop combination tools (scissors + hammer = scrammer)<br />
Students create artwork of their newly invented tools to present to the class<br />
Students may use online images, final project needs to be on paper printed in b&#038;w, colored with markers, pencils, and/or crayons<br />
4-day project(s) due by the end of class the 4th day</p>
<p>• Electronic Silkscreen – Portraits (Gimp)<br />
	- 9 images on one 8 ½” x 11” for display in the school<br />
Students paint 18 portraits, 9-color/9-black &#038; white<br />
Students create one contact sheet for each final project (cut out pics)<br />
Students create a final slide show using Animoto for presentation to the class<br />
Review the Fuzzy Select Tool, Move Tool, and Edit/Cut/Paste within the window that is being used with GIMP</p>
<p>• Electronic Silkscreen – Eye Can See Clearly Now – Poem/Lyrics (Gimp)<br />
Students paint one photo of their own eyes<br />
Students paint two more photos of two other students in either class<br />
Students paint in a color theme (school colors, red, white &#038; blue)<br />
Students create a slide show using Animoto for presentation to the class</p>
<p>• PodCast<br />
Students (in partners) become DJs and present a radio show<br />
Radio show includes music, advertisements, weather, traffic<br />
Radio show is minimum of 45 seconds, maximum 60 seconds</p>
<p>7th Grade</p>
<p>• Idioms/Compound Words<br />
Students display 5 idioms and 5 compound words using only images, no text<br />
Students will create a slide show for class presentation<br />
Students will pick one of their pieces for display in the school</p>
<p>• Stop-Action Film<br />
Students create and solve a problem in their films<br />
Students use 2 clicks per second (minimum)<br />
Students used either cameras or laptops (PhotoBooth)<br />
Final projects are imported to iMovie, compressed into QuickTime, and turned in electronically<br />
Stop-Action films will be shown in class as the final project presentation</p>
<p>• Reflections<br />
Students take photographs of their subjects in the reflections<br />
Students need to take a minimum of 100 photographs<br />
Students use 10 photographs for their final projects<br />
Students create a slide show using Animoto</p>
<p>• Photo Essay<br />
Students display 20 photographs (or an even number)<br />

Photographs tell a story that solves a problem<br />
All photographs need to be taken by the student<br />
If the students is the subject, timer needs to be used</p>
<p>8th Grade</p>

<p>• Inanimate Object Film – iMovie ‘09<br />
Groups of 4 to 5 students<br />
Inanimate object causes a problem<br />
Story must solve the problem<br />
Each student in the group must participate in every aspect of the project<br />
Each student must have lines</p>
<p>• Solo Expression Film – PhotoBooth<br />
Movie must have a minimum of 3 characters<br />
All characters are played by the Solo-Student<br />
Entire movie is filmed from the neck up<br />
Students need to “costume” their faces<br />
Glasses, wigs, makeup, teeth, eyes, etc.</p>
<p>• Silent Film – Black &#038; White/Sepia<br />
Must include a dance scene<br />
Must include slow-motion, fast-motion<br />
May use on-screen text, time appropriate (4 second minimum)<br />
Overacting needs to explain script/actions</p>
<p>• Soundtrack Film – Lyrics/Script<br />
Total script is from lyrics<br />
All characters’ lines need to be in lip-sync mode<br />
Students need to create the soundtrack, CD cover with their pictures<br />
Soundtrack copy to be turned in/shared with film</p>
<p>• Music Video<br />
Must be a song with an approved storyline<br />
Must be be totally clean<br />
Must have enough characters for the whole group<br />
Play for Change</p>
