Problem Solving Assembly 2016

This month’s spirit assembly was all about problem solving. The Assembly Ambassadors taught students the “Problem Solving Steps.”  If a student is having a problem they must first say the problem (without blame).  Next he or she needs to think of solutions that are safe and respectful.  After that a student would need to explore the consequences of their solution (If I do this, then….), Finally, a student needs to pick the best solution and make a plan.  This video was shown at our May spirit assembly to help students understand how to problem solve at school and at home. Our Assembly Ambassadors did an excellent job!

Emotion Management Assembly 2016

This month’s spirit assembly was about managing your emotions. When children are feeling emotionally overwhelmed we teach our students to Stop – Name Their Feeling – Calm Down. Some ways they can calm down are to count backwards from ten, take deep belly breaths and to use positive self-talk.  This video was shown at our March spirit assembly to help students understand how to manage their emotions at school and at home. Our Assembly Ambassadors did an excellent job!

Sharpen the Saw Assembly 2015

This month’s spirit leadership assembly was all about “sharpening the saw”.  When students sharpen the saw they keep their life in balance.  They take care of their mind, body, heart and soul. They take care of their mind by learning new things, their body by exercising, their heart by spending time with people they love and their soul by taking some time to be reflective.  This video was shown at our June spirit assembly to help students know the different ways they can sharpen the saw at home and at school. Amazing job Assembly Ambassadors!

End-of-Year Assembly

The end-of-the-year assembly is a time to remember all of the fun we have had here at Avoca West.  At this particular assembly we remembered “The 7 Habits of Happy Kids”, honored staff members who are leaving us, sang special songs, and watched a slideshow set to music to recap the year.  Everyone took away something special from this assembly.

Watch as our 1st and 3rd graders help students remember the 7 habits that were taught this year.

Want to teach this song to your child? Use the video below.
