Thank you very much for your interest in Avoca West Elementary School! Part of Avoca School District #37, our boundaries include sections of Glenview, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka.Currently serving a little over 400 kindergarten through 5th grade students, Avoca West offers a unique educational experience designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of all of our students. We live our mission statement of maximizing the unique potential of each child we serve every day!Immediately upon entering the doors of our school, visitors often comment on the warm, student-centered feel of the building. They notice the laughter, the smiling faces and the positive energy that characterizes the students and staff.

Much of that excitement is generated by the dynamic master schedule which provides many opportunities for our students to develop their talents and explore new areas of interest. Besides the core academic subjects, each week Avoca West students participate in Physical Education, Music, Spanish, Art, Technology, Science Lab, Literacy Enrichment and Promoting Alternative THinking Strategies (PATHS).

While the students are enjoying their enrichment classes, our teachers meet with their teams, the principal, other teachers and representatives of the pupil services department in order to plan units, lessons, strategies and other activities to meet the needs of ALL of our diverse learners. The Professional Learning Communities model which we employ is a significant factor in our outstanding academic success.

Each year our diverse student body ranks extremely high on the Illinois Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT), a testament to the rigor of our curriculum as well as the hard work and effort of our students, staff and parents.
