Homework Expectations

All students receive homework on a regular basis in order to reinforce, review, study and extend work done in class. Homework helps students learn to work independently, organize time, use good study skills, and develop self-discipline. It is the students’ responsibility to complete all homework as assigned and submit to their teachers when it is due. The average homework time for a sixth grader is approximately 60-90 minutes daily, although time may vary due to a student’s ability and investment. Students are provided with assignment planners and are expected to keep them up-to-date. Assignments are given both orally in class and recorded on each teacher’s respective whiteboard. In addition, assignments can be accessed through the homework link on the Sixth Grade Homepage.
