It’s Speak Up Appreciation Week – AND – Project Tomorrow is extending the Speak Up survey period to January 27th! Schools across the country use the free Speak Up tool to gather feedback from their students, parents, teachers, administrators, librarians, school communications professionals, education technology leaders and community members. COME ONE, COME ALL! The 8th grade Graduation Committee is sponsoring a Volleyball Fundraiser. There will be volleyball (of course), pizza, concessions, and music. Spectators are welcome to come join in the fun!
As a district, we utilize Google Apps for Education, a free, web-based collection of tools to support learning. But what exactly is it? In this demonstration, learn what Google Apps are and how they are being used in Avoca classrooms.
On Tuesday, May 31st all students participated in the Marie Murphy Olympics. The weather couldn’t have been better! Ten teams comprised of 6th, 7th and 8th graders competed against one another. Team #7 came in 1st place under the leadership of Mrs. Rachmiel, Mrs. Stotz and Ms.Tramontin. Team #3 took 2nd place under the direction of Mrs. Bialk, Mrs. Bodzewski and Mr. Furman. Third place was clinched by Team #1 with guidance from Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Hoffmeister.
Two Marie Murphy Olympic records were broken. Remarkable! Congratulations to the following students:

This event is sponsored by the PTC. All children at Marie Murphy will receive their pledge sheets during physical education on Monday, April 18th. Donald Cornelius will explain the details of the fundraiser to the kids. The walk will be held during the physical education and foreign language blocks.
All proceeds will be used to purchase a sound system, projector, and screen in the south gym. Also, indoor recess kits to keep kids active when they have to be indoors due to bad weather.
