The recommended calculator for an eighth grade math student is the TI-Nspire CAS Handheld with Touchpad (it’s BLACK). You will have to avoid similar ones that are either navy blue or white, as even though they are a Touchpad, they do not have the CAS program. Also, you want to avoid any version that says “Clickpad.” This calculator is also required for math classes at New Trier High School. The Marie Murphy class of 2010 will be graduating on Tuesday, June 1st!  Graduation begins at 7:30 P.M. in the Marie Murphy Gymnasium.  All are encouraged to arrive early as seating can fill up quite fast!  If you are unable to attend in person the entire ceremony will be broadcast live online!  Click here for the link!

Great job to all of the students who made Marie Murphy’s 2010 Olympics one of the most competitive in recent years!  All of the students exhibited excellent sportsmanship as well as great effort in every event!

Congratulations to the entire Science Olympiad team and coaches Mr. Gravagna, Mr. Ogden, Mr. Persino, and Ms. Wright for another State Championship!  The team has been working hard, and captured their 5th state title in 6 years!  Congratulations and good luck at nationals next month!

Congratulations and Thank you to Ms. Wright who did a fantastic job of organizing Marie Murphy’s first Read-A-Thon.  The event was held Wednesday March 17th in attempts to raise money for Partners in Health for Haiti.  The totals are in, and the event was a great success!

6th Grade- $2,137.00

7th Grade- $1,894.00

8th Grade- $766.00

With your help we were able to raise $4,797.00 for this great cause!  Ms. Wright would also like to extend a big thank you to Tamara V. and Samantha Y. for going above and beyond to assist her with the event!

Last week Avoca 37 and Wilmette 39 teamed up to play in a charity basketball game to raise money for the Juan Orduno Memorial, Haitian Relief, and the New Trier Food Pantry.  It is because of your support we were successful in raising plenty of money to go to each area.  Thank you for your continued support!  Be on the look out for our 2nd annual game next year!
