The Science Olympiad Varsity and JV teams kicked off the competition season this past weekend.  Both teams did an outstanding job!  The varsity team came in first place on Saturday while the junior varsity team placed second.  They are looking forward to another outstanding season.

The varsity team will be traveling to Solon, Ohio to compete in early February.  This competition should help to prepare Marie Murphy students for further competitions.  During this event, they will compete against the team that won Nationals last year when Marie Murphy came in second place.  Wish the Science Olympiad students luck!

Give your seventh grade student the chance to learn swing, tango, salsa and waltz by taking part in our exciting social dance program.  For this program, we partner with  Chicago’s May I Have This Dance so that our children can experience the enormously popular Dancing with Class series.

Over the course of this 6 week program, your son/daughter will:

• Build character and self-esteem;
• Practice basic social etiquette such as eye contact and saying thank you;
• Learn how teamwork is required for success;
• Study the origin and cultural significance of a variety of dance forms;
• Develop skills that lead to an active, healthy lifestyle
• Be transformed into Ladies and Gentlemen!

The program will be held from 7-8:30 pm (actual instruction will be 1 hour from 7:15-8:15) on the following dates:

Friday, March 2nd

It will be held at Marie Murphy Junior High in the Multi-Purpose Room.  We plan on having snacks at the end from 8:15-8:30 to make sure the kids enjoy themselves.  The cost of the program is $90.  Space is limited; however we do need a minimum number of students in order to conduct the program, so we strongly urge you to enroll your student now.  Please register NO LATER than December 16^th.  For those families sending in their forms by Dec 1^st, we will be holding a drawing for a beautiful gift basket, with treats for the whole family!
