Now, I listen to much more than just metal. In fact, most of my other favorite bands besides the metal guys are indie rock bands like The Mountain Goats, Belle And Sebastian, and The Twilight Sad. But with this Artist Spotlight column, I want to bring attention to some very talented and very unknown artists on independent labels that deserve much more attention. So, with out further adieu, let’s talk about Outasight. I feel that the mainstream rap business is falling fast. The best rap artists out right now are on underground labels like Strange Music, Subnoize, and Psychopathic Records. However, sometimes the best artists are without a label. And this is where Outasight comes in. Outasight is a rapper from New York that is slowly making his way to the top through some help of the internet. I first heard about Outasight whilst watching an episode of YouTuber Ray William Johnson’s vlog show, Breaking NYC. He wrote a letter to Outasight asking him for permission to use music on his show. He accepted, and has gained quite the following because of it. His most famous song, ‘Good Morning (Dream Big),’ is featured at the end of every episode of Breaking NYC. However, there are many other of Outasight’s songs featured in the episodes, which can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/BreakingNYC The fortunate part of Outasight’s career is that he offers all of his music for free online. If you visit https://www.iamoutasight.com, you can download his latest mixtape/album, Further, absolutely and legally free. There is also a link in a episode of Breaking NYC to download his 2008 album, ‘Radio New York.’ Finally, you can download the From There To Here at this location. I highly recommend checking out some of Outasight’s music, because he has real potential in the hip hop music industry.
TRACKS TO LOOK OUT FOR:
‘Better Late Than Never’ (from Further)
‘Catch Me If You Can’ (from Further)
‘Good Morning (Dream Big)’ (from Radio New York)
‘Runnin ‘08′ (from Radio New York)
