Mary Rudzinski was named the 2007 Illinois Outstanding Orchestra Teacher by the Association of American String Teachers.
Mary Rudzinski has been the director of this orchestra program since 1987. She received her B.S. from the University of Illinois and her M.A. from Northwestern University. Mary taught in Elgin, Illinois, Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel and Amsterdam, Netherlands, prior to coming to Wilmette. Mary is a violist who has performed with orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout her career. Mary has spent many summers teaching at VanderCook College of Music and is an occasional guest lecturer at Northwestern University. She has been a guest conductor for the IMEA Junior High Festival Orchestras of Districts VI, III and VII, ISYM and Interlochen Fine Arts Camp. Mary has also been a contributing Research Associate for 'Teaching Music Through Performance in Orchestra", Vol. I & II, pub. 2001 & 2003. Organizations Mary has received awards from include the Fulbright Memorial Fund, Illinois Math and Science Academy, and the Illinois Humanities Council.
