VIKING WALK – Friday, May 10th !!

Join us on Friday May 10th for Avoca West’s first Viking Walk! The sponsor sheets are READY. Please click on the following link to print your child’s pledge sheet: Pledge_Sheet Final All children should turn in their pledge sheets by Wednesday, May 8th. Their sheet will be returned to them the day of the walk with the number of laps completed. The pledge sheet with all collected monies should be turned in by Monday, May 20th. There will be several prizes to win, and the student who brings in the most money will win an iPad Mini! All students, K – 5th, will participate in this event during their regular scheduled gym time. Weather permitting, children will walk/run on school property while their gym instructors keep a record of the number of laps completed. PARENTS’ NIGHT OUT – THANK YOU!!

Parents’ Night Out is one of our District’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and a tremendous effort is made by many, many people to make the event a success. First we’d like to thank all of those who attended the event. We hope you had a wonderful evening and that you’ll enjoy the exciting prizes you won. Thank you also to those who were not able to attend but who generously supported the event through donations.

We would also like to thank all of those who helped bring the Carribean to the North Shore!

Arthur Murray Dance Studio for their awesome dance lessons!

Jennifer Volkodav for designing the flyers and invitations;  Enrique Patel for devoting so much time on the day to help set up the event; Dr and Mr Gendel for assisting with check-in at the event; Eden O’Donnel for set up and check in; Karen Quezada for set up; Steve Brown, Donald Cornelius, Michael Grossman, and Andy Rix - The clean-up crew!

An enormous thank you to the Avoca families and to all of the businesses who generously donated items to the silent and live auctions. Local businesses get requests for donations from a very large number of schools in the area, and we are grateful for their continued support of our fundraising efforts. Please remember to support them too!

Parents’ Night Out – Saturday, March 9th

Please join us on March 9th for our annual fundraiser Parents' Night Out at the Double Tree Hotel starting at 7 pm. There will be appetizers, dancing, karaoke, and from 8 - 9 pm an hour of dance instruction from The Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Carribean attire is encouraged but optional. Come bid on auction items such as Bulls memorabilia, a $500 gift certificate toward a portrait session and your choice of prints or other products at Diane Hamilton Photography in Wilmette, a free night at the Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin, golfing for four at the Wilmette Park District, and VIP seats for almost all AW concerts. VIP seats for Marie Murphy's 8th grade graduation will also be auctioned. A list of donors is attached here PNO donations list March 2013 . If you’d like to spend the night at the Double Tree Hotel, a special discounted room rate of $99 applies.

Invitations to the event were sent out by mail, but can also be viewed here PNO-1. Buy your tickets in advance to get the early bird rate of $35 per person, or at the door for $40. Please feel free to ask questions of any of the following committee members Cathy Brown, Lourdes Cornelius, Louise Dechovitz, Marcela Grossman, Denise Kingwill, Ennie Oh, Mary Patel, Sarah Prouty, Kathy Stein, and Natalie Zawarzky. We hope to see you there!
