First through fifth grade art students will be entering the “Doodle for Google Contest” this week. I have given each student an entry form and a template with the Google logo on it. Please take a few minutes to fill in the entry form at home. Students have already started their drawing in art, and I have asked them to complete it at home and return it to me by this Friday, March 16th. I would like to share this important Art Smart announcement with you from our Art Smart volunteer parents. Please consider joining this wonderful organization!

Become an Art Smart volunteer.  It is very rewarding and the children are genuinely excited to see you and look forward to learning about the artist!!

There will be a workshop for Art Smart volunteers on Thursday, September 24th at 7:30 pm in the Avoca West Art Room.

This is an opportunity for you to preview all our artist reference materials and experiment with a variety of simple art techniques.  You will leave with something you can use for fun projects that will allow students to show how they were inspired by what they learned about the artist you presented.

We have doubled our collection of posters and artist bins that hold books and movies and are ready to be used in the classroom. There are also several project idea books that can be checked out.

During the workshop we will chat about the variety of things that you can do to bring the lives and work of important artists to our students.
