About Ms. Soriano

Gail Soriano is the technology facilitator at Marie Murphy School and the district technology coordinator.  During weekly hour meetings she leads teachers in technology staff development and technology curriculum integration.  Before joining the Marie Murphy staff, Gail worked as a technology facilitator at Avoca West Elementary.

In September 2008, Ms. Soriano was selected to be part of the Google Teacher Academy in Chicago.  She is now a Google Certified Teacher.  Also in the fall of 2008 she was honored as one of the 20 to Watch educators by the National School Boards Association.  This honor was given to her at the T+L conference in Seattle, WA.  Ms. Soriano also presented at the National Educational Computing Conference in San Antonio in July of 2008. In May 2008, Ms. Soriano received a Northern Illinois Computing Educators Mini-Grant. She also presented at the Illinois Computing Educators Conference in February of 2008 and 2010.  In 2011, she served as a round table moderator at the Chicago Tech Forum for a discussion on Google Apps for Education.

This year is Ms. Soriano’s fourteenth year of teaching and her sixth year teaching in Avoca School District 37. Before becoming a technology facilitator, she was a teacher in Spanish dual-language, Spanish bilingual, and regular education multi-age classrooms. Her passion is for teaching and learning technology. Ms. Soriano received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Purdue University in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts Degree from National Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction.
