Character Sheet Work

As part of the preparation process, a good actor will delve into their character’s backstory and psychology and examine how that affects their character in the present action of the play.  Each cast member is required to fill out their character sheet as a means of doing just that.  Actors, your character sheets are due to me by next Monday, March 15th.  Feel free to leave comments here about your process of working on this, as well as any cool discoveries or difficulties you’ve had.

Well, nobody’s commented so far so I might as well start… umm play practice is going good so far, I think. It will be better when we get to use the stage again. So yeah, I’ve got nothing to really say on this subject, but keep up the good work, everybody!!!?!!! xoxo Hannah

Thanks, Hannah! I appreciate you starting us off. Do you find there is a distinct difference between rehearsing in the community room and rehearsing on the stage? How so?

  3. 10nicholasb@gavoca37.com Says:

I only have Chris’s and Zach’s character sheet. Does anyone else have theirs?

  4. 10zacharyu@gavoca37.org Says:

Well, I think that rehearsing on the stage brings out the more “natural” acting decisions from us, because, well, we’re on stage! Rehearsing in the community room doesn’t give us the exhilarating feeling of acting in an “acting” setting/atmosphere.

  5. sophiak@gavoca37.org Says:

On the stage there is more room in the front and on stage you get more of an idea on what the actual play will be like.

  6. 11prestonf@gavoca37.org Says:

The stage seems more realistic and is roomier.

  7. 10loganm@gavoca37.org Says:

I prefer the Community Room. More spacious and much cooler in temperature than the stage. Plus, in the event of a fall, carpet’s nicer than wood.

Play practice is amazing! I can’t wait until the real deal!!!

  9. sophiak@gavoca37.org Says:

I will turn in my character sheet on Monday.

The real deal though is a long way away.

    From Sophia:

I have a question. for my charactor sheet I don’t know what to put down for Angela’s clothing. she is popular so she is probably stylish but I don’t think she like an abercrombie girl. Any ideas?

  12. 10hannaha@gavoca37.org Says:

To Sophia: Probably like Hollister or American Eagle. Recognizable fashionable brands, but not Abercrombie/Abercrombie and Fitch. Or maybe she could be a little less fortunate, and wear Abercrombie knock-off stuff. hope this helps! (if not, oh well, you read it anyway)
