Rehearsal Schedule and Attendance Policy
Students interested in auditioning for the play will need to be available to rehearse on each of the days rehearsals are scheduled. Before auditioning, students should cross-check with their parents any potential conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. If an auditioning student can foresee a conflict for a legitimate reason, that student must indicate that conflict on the parent permission form before auditioning in order for it to be an excused absence from rehearsal. Any absences from rehearsals that have not been excused on the parent permission form before auditions are unexcused absences. Two unexcused absences from rehearsals are cause for replacement in the show by an understudy. Leaving early from rehearsals also constitutes an absence. Please schedule other practices, lessons, and appointments around the rehearsal schedule. Auditioning for the show constitutes a commitment to the rehearsal schedule and, unlike a sports team where someone else off the bench can play in an absent teammate’s spot, there is only one person for each character, and it’s essential to everyone’s progress that everyone be present at rehearsals. Legitimate illness, with a phone call to the school, is the only unexpected excused absence.
Please be sure that you (the student) and your parents are in agreement with this policy before auditioning. If you foresee multiple conflicts with the rehearsal schedule in advance, it may jeopardize whether you are cast in the show. We need everybody–every day! You are all important!
