iOnAvoca News was a rousing success last year and we are excited to bring it back to the Avoca community! This is a demanding but highly rewarding extracurricular club for students who enjoy writing/teamwork and are excited to learn about broadcast news and television. Students can choose to participate in either 8 week session for broadcast club. 5th graders will be gathering stories throughout the week, scripting them then creating a rundown for a news program. In addition, they will learning the fundamentals of camera operation, teleprompter operation, lighting, anchoring and production. Because the show is student driven and relies on the cast and crew, it is important that students make a commitment to attending each week of broadcast club. It is also important for students to know that extra writing and anchor practice will be required outside of club meeting times.
Session I: Wednesday, January 11th – Wednesday, March 7th SESSION 1 FULL
(We will not meet on Wednesday, February 15th)
Session II: Wednesday, April 4- Wednesday, May 23
Students may sign up for one session of broadcast club.
