The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are an annual competition open to students from grades 7-12. Each year thousands of art and writing works are submitted. From those submissions, a small number of pieces are chosen to be recognized.
Gold Keys are awarded to the top 5-7% of all entries, Silver Keys are awarded to the top 7-10% of all entries, and Honorable Mention is awarded to the top 10-15% of all entries. Any student who receives a Gold Key is automatically moved on to the national portion of the competition. This year Marie Murphy had 25 art and writing pieces selected for recognition and 6 Marie Murphy students are moving on to the national competition.

Students who placed in the writing portion of the awards will be recognized at a regional ceremony in Chicago on March 28th.

Students who placed in the art portion of the awards will be recognized at a regional ceremony at the University of Iowa on Sunday, March 20th.

We are all really proud of the accomplishments of our artists and writers!
