Sixth grade English uses a workshop model. The class focuses on reading, writing, listening and speaking, grammar, vocabulary, and word study. Grammar skills and vocabulary are intertwined throughout both the reading and writing curriculum. The following reading and writing units are the main focus of sixth grade:

  • The Literary Essay (Argumentative)
  • Research-Based Information Writing

The mission of the English curriculum is to develop literate individuals through a balanced program that includes:
