District Information, Event Details, and Volunteer Opportunities

VIRTUAL: Annual Book Fair with Andersen's
The Avoca PTC's beloved Annual Book Fair with Anderson's has moved online this year and will take place from March 10-21, 2021! A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Avoca PTC. Support our schools by participating and discover the best book selections and new releases from Anderson's. Choose to have your books delivered to school on Wednesday, March 24 or to your home. Students may continue to order after the 21st but would need to have books delivered home. Click the flyer below for more details and information! Please contact us with any questions at customerservice@abcfairs.com or call us at 630-820-0044.

Plugged in Reading Event
Avoca's very own Technology Integration Specialist, Kelli Lane, will be hosting a virtual community night on March 3, 2021 from 6-7pm, focusing on how families can access eBooks and audiobooks. To attend, either scan the QR Code in the flyer or via this Zoom link: https://zoom.us/j/603696271

Spring Play Informational Meeting
A Spring Play Informational Meeting will be held on Monday, March 1, at 3:00pm for any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade Marie Murphy student interested in learning more about the upcoming spring play, “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” auditions. The meeting will discuss the play itself (including story and characters), rehearsal schedule, audition details, and commitment requirements. It is very important for any student wanting to audition to attend this meeting to get access to required forms and vital information. Interested students need to email Ms. Janssen at janssenk@avoca37.org to request the Zoom link for the meeting.

8th Grade Fundraiser
The 8th Grade Graduation Committee and Marie Murphy are starting to explore possibilities of what graduation and associated activities can look like amid COVID. One aspect of graduation is fundraising, but the typical activities utilized to raise funds (carwashes, volleyball & dodgeball tournaments, parent nights, etc.) are unavailable to us this year.

As a way to generate funds without compromising safety, the 8th Grade Graduation Committee has created a GoFundMe page where any parent or community member can make a donation to support graduation activities for the Class of 2021.

If you are interested in supporting the committee and our soon-to-be Marie Murphy graduates, please click on this link. Thank you for your support!
