District Information, Event Details, and Volunteer Opportunities

Town Hall Meeting - Community Engagement & Strategic Planning
Tonight is the night! Join us at the Town Hall Meeting to help Advance Avoca. Your input is the most important part of building a new strategic plan and a great future for our amazing schools. In Dr. Osburn's October 4 post, he promoted the meeting. Here again, are the details:

> Wednesday, October 20 - from 7 to 9 p.m.
> Marie Murphy Gym - Social Distancing and Masking will be in place
  • Hear a presentation providing high-level background information about the district, focusing on information about student and staff performance and learning.
  • Take a very detailed and customized survey online to provide your input into the current state of the district and its future direction.
  • Meet in a Focus Group (10 people or less) with an administrator or Board member to share in open-ended format your insights.
  • Most importantly, bring a friend.  We want parents, guardians, students, staff, and community members who do not have students in our schools. We all have a role in advancing Avoca. (There will be options for viewing a recording of the presentation online afterward for those who cannot make it.)
On behalf of the Strategic Planning Committee, we look forward to seeing you there.

Early Childhood Developmental Screening Date
Avoca School District 37 offers free screenings to district residents, ages 2 ½ to 5, who may have delays in their development. These screenings cover language development, fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional behavior, and early learning. The appointments take approximately one hour to complete. Currently, due to COVID-19 restrictions, we ask that only one parent attend the screening with their child. Masks are required to enter the building and must be kept on during the screening.

The location for the screening is Marie Murphy School, 2921 Illinois Road, Wilmette, Illinois. Please call the Student Services Office at 847-728-4142 to make an appointment. The Fall scheduled screening date is Thursday, October 28, 2021.

PTC Membership Update
Thank you to everyone that has paid their PTC dues. Dues are $25/family, and you can pay by cash or check written out to Avoca PTC. We also accept PayPal. Here's the link to our PayPal. If you've already downloaded the Membership Toolkit app, you can pay dues by clicking on "Join the PTC." You can check out via PayPal there too. Everyone needs to create a new account to access AtoZ because they migrated to a new system. The new website is here. Remember to download the new Membership Toolkit app and delete the old one. If your child goes to Avoca West, you can find out who the room parent is for your class by looking on "Staff Directory." Always check out the app to see if there are any new volunteer opportunities. If you want some tips on how to navigate the app or the website, there are some listed here. If anyone has any questions, please contact Ann Heinz at [email protected]

AVOCA FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
