2021-2022 Calendar
At its February 4 meeting, the Board approved the calendar for the 2021-22 school year. Here are some highlights:
- First Day of Student Attendance - August 25
- Thanksgiving Break for Students/Families Runs November 22 through November 26
- Winter Break Runs December 20 through December 31
- Spring Breaks for Students Runs March 25 through April 1
- The last day of student attendance is June 10

To-Do: Supplemental Summer/Fall Learning Survey
Outlined in his most recent newsletter, Dr. Osburn noted that students will once again be able to attend District 39's summer school. Additionally this year, Avoca will determine if it will also offer summer learning opportunities of its own. ALSO, the District will determine what kind of supplemental learning it might offer in the Fall of 2021.
Therefore, please complete this initial survey so that the district can determine families' interest in different potential additional learning opportunities in the Summer of 2021 and even the Fall of 2021.
8th Grade Fundraiser
The 8th Grade Graduation Committee and Marie Murphy are starting to explore possibilities of what graduation and associated activities can look like amid COVID. One aspect of graduation is fundraising, but the typical activities utilized to raise funds (carwashes, volleyball & dodgeball tournaments, parent nights, etc.) are unavailable to us this year.
As a way to generate funds without compromising safety, the 8th Grade Graduation Committee has created a GoFundMe page where any parent or community member can make a donation to support graduation activities for the Class of 2021.

Mask Up for a Great Cause
Avoca student-designed masks are still available for purchase at $8 per mask, which comes with 2 fillers. All sales proceeds benefit The Avoca Viking Fund - Alice Katrich's choice of charity! You can pay online here or pay by cash/check - drop off at the MM front office or mail to 2921 Illinois Road, Wilmette IL 60091 ATTN: Susan Lovell. Please make checks payable to Avoca School District 37 (Memo: Mask Competition). Upon receipt of payment, we'll work with you to get your mask(s) home to you!
Family Open Gym Signup
If you haven't had a chance to participate in Family Open Gym, now's the time! Open Gym runs on Mondays and Fridays (3:30-6:30pm) and Saturdays (11-2pm). Please only sign up once at first, then monitor the sign ups. If there continue to be open spots, sign up for additional times. Click here for the Family Open Gym Sign Up.
