This is my eighth year as an art educator and my seventh year in District 37!

I graduated from Illinois State University in December 2009 with a B.S. in Visual Arts. I have a concentration in drawing and ceramics but I love to explore all different art mediums. I went on to peruse my Master’s degree from Saint Xavier University and graduated in December 2012 with an M.A. in Secondary Education. I was a graduate assistant during my time at St. Xavier in the STEM Education center, where I developed a lot of my technological skills. I student taught in Lockport at the high school level. I have also volunteered at the Beverly Art Center in Chicago from 2009-2013 where I taught ceramics to students K-5. My first year, I taught Visual Arts at the elementary level in LaGrange District 105. Through these unique experiences I discovered my true passion is teaching art to students at the middle school level. I am lucky enough to be living out that dream in District 37!

From a young age I alway enjoyed to create things. I would spend hours trying to replicate my favorite cartoon character, make jewelry to wear or put a creative spin on assignments for school. For me there is just something magical about making something out of a few simple materials and I always felt an immense amount of pride when my newest creation was finished. I still love to create. Whether it is a gift for a friend/family member, something to hang on my wall, a silly handmade greeting card or even how I decorate, that feeling of fulfillment and pride has not faded. This is something I try to bring to my teaching and foster in my students.
